5 Things You Will Love and Hate about Visiting Germany
Things you will hate about Germany
1. The People, they are a bit stiff/cold/serious/over organized, however once you are their friend you will have a friend for life.
2. You have to pay to use the toilets. Yep you have to pay about 50 cents to pee or do other business in the restrooms in Germany. Luckily that means there is an attendent that cleans the toilet so they are usually nice and clean.
3. Expensive compared to other European countries. If you compare to France, Italy, Spain, or Portugal, Germany is not a cheap place to visit, the transport is rather pricey and so are the hotels. However, the Germans do earn good money and the prices are relatively appropriate for their income level.
4. German Service: perfect example: “Excuse me, do you have an English menu?” Answer from waiter, “Yes.” And then walks away, but does not bring an English menu back, as you only asked if they had one, not that you wanted one. You will understand after you visit there. However, they are very professional about their service.
5. Everything is closed on Sundays. So, no shopping or such on Sundays. Stores usually close by 8pm on weekdays.
Things you will LOVE about Germany
1. ITS CLEAN AND ORGANIZED! The country is beautiful and there is no dog poop, overflowing trash bins, or other garbage around. It is a wonderful thing to see.
2. Make a German friend and you have a friend for life. Germans are amazing people once you get to know them. Get into their circle of friends and you will have a life long friend that will still visit you in the middle of nowhere town you come from.
3. Public transport goes everywhere. Every little town has a great bus system, the links between cities with trains are amazing. You never need to even think about a car or a taxi as public transport takes you everywhere.
4. The sites! There are amazing cities, castles, museums and landscape in Germany. Go explore and you will understand.
5. The festivals: whether Beer at Oktoberfest in Munich, or the Berlin Film Festival, or Carneval in Cologne the Germans really let their hair down at their festivals.

5 Things You will Love and Hate about Visiting Italy, from Rome, Italy
Italy is an amazing place to visit and there will be memories you will take back from your visit that will last a lifetime, some good… some not so good
But here are the five things you will hate about your trip to Italy and five things you will love about your trip to Italy.
Five Hates:
1. Yourself! That being the tourists. Italy gets tons of tourists so leads to long lines and high prices, but there is a reason all the tourists come to visit, its a great place.
2. Beggers/pickpockets
3. The Toilets: you will find more not so clean toilets then pleasurable ones my friends so be prepared.
4. They do not speak English: in the tourist industry they do but in general the level of English is not as high as say Germany or Portugal. (though the lack of English will not stop them from communicating with you
5. Crossing the Road/Drivers: The streets are crazy so be prepared for some hair raising experiences.
Top Five Loves.
1. The Super Friendly People: The Italians are great! They will take you in and are always so proud of their towns and history.
2. The food and wine: Its Italy, eat drink and be merry.
3. Cheap public transport: the trains between towns and the metro and buses in the cities are cheap and effective.
4. The weather: you will get great weather where ever you do go.
5. Its Italy! The history, the museums, the landscape, its all just beyond words. Filmed in Rome, Italy
5 Things You Will Love and Hate about Venice
5 Things You Will Love and Hate about Rome
5 Things You Will Love & Hate about Vicenza, Italy
5 Things You Will Love and Hate about Visiting Scotland
Hate about Scotland.
1. Shops close at 6PM so you will need to get all your shopping done by 5:45 or you will be out of luck and out of food rather quick. Though there are off-license stores that can get you the basics in larger towns.0
2. It’s Expensive: This will not be an economical vacation for you. Whether its transport, food or hotels it is pricey.
3. Hard to find accomodation. This one is the most difficult as there are many Bed and Breakfasts, however they have limited capacity and are hard to find. Make sure you book far ahead.
4. Limited Public Transport so you have to drive, which actually works to your benefit as you will get to see more of the beautiful countryside and the smaller sites that you can only reach by private vehicle.
5. The Weather. Cold and rainy…
Love about Scotland
1. The People. The Scots are amazing, whether it is in service (possibly the best in Europe) or just in the everyday person you meet on the street they are just great.
2. Castles. The are so many I do not even know where to begin.
3. Landscape. The countryside is amazingly beautiful.
4. Distillaries. Stop in, have a tipple and buy a bottle.
5. Hiking/Golfing in Scotland. Cheap, abundant and great fun.
5 Things You Will Love and Hate about Visiting Lisbon, Portugal
5 Things You Will Love and Hate About Visiting Portugal
Hate #1. The Eating Times: Portuguese restaurants close their kitchens from 3PM until 7 or 8PM each day. That means if you get peckish for Porco Preto or salivating for Sardines at 5 or 6PM you are out of luck. You can get small snacks and the fast food joints are open, but the traditional fair is not available. This will really upset you traveling while you are in Portugal especially if you have kids with early bed times.
Hate#2. Paying for Bread and Olives: This is just an annoyance you may notice on paying your bill at a restaurant. The tasty looking bread, olives, BUTTER, sardine paste, cheese, ham, etc You have to pay for each of them separately. Yes, that means that pad of butter your dad wants to eat costs him something more. And if you are looking at the cheese and ham realize that they will cost more than your actual meal.
Hate#3. Drug Dealers in Lisbon: This is something even the locales hate. Drug dealers on the pedestrian streets and in the bar districts asking everyone and anyone to buy hashish or worse. They come up regardless of the time of day or people you are with. I have been asked for drugs while I was pushing my son around in his stroller (he was 3 at the time), and my mom (grandma) was offered drugs as well. Just say no and be forceful with it as they will follow you and ask you again and again.
Hate #4. Portuguese Drivers: My Portuguese friends like to tell me there is a little rally driver in each Portuguese. The problem is that means the roads are quite dangerous and that includes the sidewalk. Walk around Porto or Lisbon and you will see. Especially scary for parents with small children.
Hate # 5. Service: Now, not all service is bad in Portugal, if you find a family run restaurant (tasca) or store you will be pleasantly surprised. But the chain stores and restaurants have service that will turn you off of shopping. So, be prepared. The minimum wage is only about 450 euros per month, so that may explain a bit.
And then there are things you will love about Portugal.
Love #1. It is Cheap!! Comparing to any other western and some eastern European countries Portugal is extremely affordable. Whether it is eating out, public transport or drinking your wallet will love your visit to Portugal almost as much as you will!
Love #2. Wine and Food. Portuguese wine is amazing and affordable, if you want to learn how to love wine Portugal has them all, great reds and whites, their green wine (young white) is to die for and of course the world famous Port Wine from Porto. The food here is great as well, whether it is the great selection of seafood or pork or sweets Portuguese food is dang tasty!
Love #3. Nice People: Portugal has amazing people and when you get to know them they become even more affable and friendly. They will invite you to their home or even their grandmas village just to show you a good time in their country. They will let you know the best restaurants and are glad to share. Amazing people.
Love #4. They Speak English. Portuguese are great at English, not only do a majority of the youth (under 40) speak it, they speak it well. And even over 40 you will find a lot of older people that tourist will be in contact with will speak at least workable English. This is helpful regardless of where you are from as English is the international language.
Love #5. The Country. You will love the sites, the history, the everything about Portugal. There is so much to see and do and I just do not have enough space here to write or time on video to explain, but believe me whether it is surfing in Sagres, hiking in the Serra da Estrela, Celebrating Santos in Lisbon, Portugal will be a great trip you will remember forever.
