drinking a German Beer is part of any trip to Germany. Here we are at te Ernst August Brauhaus in Hannover, Germany enjoying some tasty German fair and discussing some of the vocab you will need to get the right beer where ever you are in Germany. Bier – beer, Helles – light beer (in color not calories), Dunkles/Alt – dark beer, grosses – big, kleines – small, Sekt – sparkling wine, Wein – wine, Rotwein – red win, Weisswein – white whine, Gluehwein – hot wine, Prost – cheers, then there are beers especially from certain parts and cities in Germany. Alt Beer is from Duesseldorf, Kolsch is from Cologne. And remember buy the “city” beer from whatever city you are in, as that will be the freshest beer and most popular. And if you get to Bamberg, have my favorite “Rauchbier” or smoked beer. It tastes like BACON!!!
